How to set up the pins, how a throw scores, the exactly-50 finish and the three-miss rule — plus a printable score sheet.
A Finnish throwing game. Toss a wooden throwing pin at twelve numbered pins: knock one down and you score its number; knock several down and you score how many fell. Fallen pins are stood up where they land, so the field spreads out all game. First to exactly 50 wins — go over and you drop back to 25.
Stand the twelve pins in a tight block, 1 and 2 nearest the thrower, 3.5 metres (11.5 ft) from the throwing line:
| Throw | Score |
|---|---|
| One pin knocked downKnock down the 12 alone for the biggest single throw. | pin's number |
| Two or more pins downFive pins down scores 5, whatever their numbers. | number of pins |
| MissThree misses in a row and you're out. | 0 |
A pin only counts if it's fully on the ground. One leaning on another pin, on the throwing pin, or on a natural feature like a root doesn't count; one resting against something artificial, like a curb, does.
To win you need exactly 50. Overshoot and your score drops back to 25. Near the end, that makes the right single pin worth far more than a big scatter.
You're on 44 and need 6. Knocking down the 6 alone wins. Knocking down six pins at once also scores 6 and wins. Knocking down the 9 takes you to 53 — back to 25.
Miss every pin on three of your turns in a row and you're eliminated. Scoring anything resets the count. If everyone else is eliminated, the last player standing wins.
Enter each throw and Tallero drops an overshoot back to 25, counts consecutive misses, and knocks out anyone who misses three in a row.
